Homegrown Architecture LLC is an Oregon licensed architecture & landscape architecture firm located in Portland.

We are a family owned & operated, interdisciplinary studio, providing design services for homeowners, tenants, and developers.

We have been collaborating with Portland Public Schools to work on a vision for de-paving a large corner of asphalt at the Duniway Elementary School, located in SE Portland's Eastmoreland neighborhood. In turn, the space will be transformed into a large green space featuring an outdoor classroom for school & after school learning opportunities, outdoor lunch/snack time, garden & tree signage, as well as climate facts & education.

Duniway is a cornerstone of the Eastmoreland neighborhood. A green space on the corner of the school further welcomes members of the community, especially children, to learn and play.

Construction is complete on this SW Portland home! We designed a new 226 SF 1-story addition to this 1950s home. The addition includes a new spacious and upgraded kitchen, two new exterior doors to access the backyard and a new interior stairway to connect the ground floor to the basement living space and bedrooms.

Construction is nearing completion on a 921 SF 2-story addition to a ranch home in Bend, OR.

The site is complex and has a serious slope at the backyard which allowed for the new lower level bedrooms and living space.

The back corner of the house was shored up as the foundation was removed and replaced for the addition work.

The addition at the main level seamlessly connects to the outdoors with a large expanded deck.

Plants with winter interest are often requested by clients. With this request, we add in lots of winter bloomers, evergreen foliage, and autumn color. Still we don't remove perennials and grasses, instead educating that perennials and grasses can be left to provide interest and habitat through the winter. Don't cut these back in fall but let the forms remain through winter and cut back in spring.

New 921 SF Addition in Bend, Oregon provides more living and guest space to a compact ranch home. The addition includes 2 new bedrooms, 1 bath, and a new living room with a 15 foot wide section of sliding doors to an expanded deck.
